tamara's Tribute
I remember a cold winters morning in 1985, at the height of the schools uprising. i was 14 years old and overheard the SRC chairperson say that pictures of Mandela was banned but tht a poster with a negative image of Mandela was doing the rounds. I stared so hard at the outline of your face and wondered what you could have done that made an entire government so very afraid of you. When i stood at the Grand Parade few years later and watched as you greeted thousands of capetonians, I saw what it was....your humility and and humanity. I often say a prayer of thanks for having lived in the same historical moment as you.
